The Pentax Optio WG-2 has been named the BEST RUGGED COMPACT CAMERA in the TIPA Awards 2012.

The selection was made primarily because of the camera’s exceptional, super-fine image quality as well as its excellent reliability and outstanding operability.

The TIPA Award is a great accolade, TIPA is an independent, non-profit organisation comprising the chief editors and technical editors of 29 leading photo and imaging magazines in 14 countries, most of them in Europe.

The Pentax Optio WG-2 is a pretty outstanding camera. It is waterproof to 40feet, dustproof, coldproof, crushproof and shock resistant.

It has 16megapixels, 5x optical zoom and a 3″ LCD screen. It can focus on a subject as close as 1cm from the lens and the GPS version has a new GPS module with a quicker start up and increased battery life with GPS active.

This really is an outstanding camera, with amazing image capability and fantastic rugged capabilities as well!

The Pentax Optio WG-2 will be available in NZ by end of April.
