Tokina has launched its first optically-stabilised lens! The Tokina AT-X 70-200mm F4 PRO FX VCM-S telephoto zoom. This lens is designed for use with full frame SLRs, it has a ring type ultrasonic motor for autofocus, and the voice coil motor driven IS system promises three stops of stabilisation. This lens uses an optimal layout of three pieces of super-low dispersion glass in the front lens and imaging lens to improve delineation. When used on APS-C/DX format SLRs, the lens will offer a 105-300mm equivalent zoom range.
This lens delivers sharp photos with high contrast. The tripod collar will be available as an optional accessory.
Initially the lens will be available in Nikon mount, and expected in New Zealand in July 2014.
